LoRAWAN Technology Overview
In this first-day webinar session, participants will be introduced to LoRaWAN technologies. Key terms and definitions of LoRaWAN technologies will be presented. Major electronic sub-components that provide wireless data communication will be discussed in the overview session of the webinar. The Elecrow LR1302 Pi HAT and the LR1262 node board components will be used as an instructional aid to visually explain some of the key terms of LoRaWAN. The hands-on lab will consist of the construction and testing of the LR1262 node board.

Introduction to AT Commands
On the second day of the webinar course, CEC participants will learn the description and application of the AT command for data communications. The definition and description of the AT command will be explained and explored using the LR1262 node board. Participants will learn how to set up a software serial monitor to configure the LR1262 node board for sending wireless data to a LoRaWAN gateway. The hands-on lab will consist of installing a software serial monitor, data configuration, and testing AT Commands using the LR1262 node board.

Build a LoRaWAN Trainer Using an LR1302 Pi HAT and a Raspberry Pi
On the third day, the components required to build a LoRaWAN trainer will be presented. CEC participants will learn to assemble the LoRaWAN trainer using the LR1302 Pi HAT and Raspberry Pi components. A concept system block diagram description and component definitions will be presented and discussed in this session. The hands-on lab will consist of building the LoRaWAN trainer, installing the packet forward software, and testing the data communications unit.

Creating a LoRaWAN
CEC participants will learn to set up a data communication network using the LoRaWAN trainer and the LR1262 node board. Participants will set up a single-channel application whereby a network will be built using AT commands. A microswitch will be added to the LR1262 node board using an Elecrow Crowtail Collision Sensor to the wireless unit. Participants will learn how to modify the LoRa 08H code to read the collision sensor actuations to send data to the LoRaWAN trainer. The hands-on lab will consist of modifying the LoRa 08 code and testing the LoRaWAN.

Adding Automation to a LoRaWAN
On the final day of the webinar series, automation strategies for connecting to a LoRaWAN will be explained and demonstrated using the trainer and the LR1262 node board. CEC participants will learn how to code the LR1262 node board to send data on specified transmission intervals. The technique of capturing transmission data using a software serial monitor will be provided to the participants. Further, The Things Network (TTN) will be presented and discussed as an online platform to monitor wireless data reception of a LoRaWAN. The hands-on lab will consist of scripting the AT commands and coding the LR1262 node module to run in automation data transmission mode.
