Node-RED-An Overview
CEC participants will be introduced to Node RED. Furtherparticipants will learn a historical perspective of Node RED. A discussion on Node RED installationIoT dashboard layouta user interfaceand widgets will be presented. Lastlyparticipants will learn how to create an interactive user interface in Node RED on Day 1 of the webinar course. A hands-on lab will consist of creating an interactive user interface using a Node RED Dashboard.

Node-RED and the Raspberry Pi
Installation and setup of the Node-RED on the Raspberry Pi will be discussed on Day 2 webinar session. Participants will learn how to install Node-RED on the Raspberry Pi in this session. Appropriate testing of the installation and layout of the blocks or nodes will be presented. In additiona simple Hello World dataflow example will be demonstrated.

Exploring Node-RED Widgets
Participants will learn Node-RED widgets through small interactive lab activities. Participants will learn constructing an interactive gauge. Lastlyparticipants will build a temperature sensor simulator with gauge using Node-RED. Participants will test their test temperature gauge simulator on a Raspberry Pi.

Node Red and the Arduino
Participants of Day 4 webinar course will learn how to connect an Arduino to Node RED. Participants will learn basics of Arduino Firmata and communicating with Node RED through a Raspberry Pi. Wiring a pushbutton switch and potentiometer to the Arduino connected Raspberry Pi will be explored in small lab activities in this webinar session. Participants will learn how to display these external components values using Node RED widgets.

Prototyping A Low Fidelity Digital Twin Device
Participants will learn to build a low fidelity Digital Twin Device using a Node RED. Participants will build a dashboard that will connect to a physical computing based device. Furtherparticipants will learn how to access the digital twin on an internet connected mobile device like a smartphone or tablet.

He is the Director of Manufacturing and Technology at Jefferson State Community College. His research interest is Embedded Controls, Robotics Education, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence applications and their impact on Personalized Learning, Competency-Based Models curriculum, and instructional development in Mechatronics, Automation, IoT, Electronics, Robotics, and Industrial Maintenance Technologies.
